Abstract Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) issues in Malaysia are increasingly gaining the fundamental importance due to continuously reported various injuries or accidents at the workplace. Malaysia as a developing country, improvement in employees safety and health particularly in ergonomic safety should go hand in hand with the booming of Malaysia economic. Furthermore, with the increased number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), they are encountering greater challenges to keep track of OSH necessities. Despite that, SMEs will discover ways to stay competitive and survive with their limited financial resources. Poor employees’ health could have significant effects on organisational competitiveness and productivity. Unhealthy employees tend to be absent from works. The numbers of Musculoskeletal Disorder (MSD) and occupational stress cases are at the high alarming rate due to the poor realisation of the ergonomic workplace. This research is aimed to identify the ergonomics workplace affected by five (5) environmental interfaces which are indoor air quality, lighting, acoustic, furniture & tools design and building environment on employees’ health. The survey was distributed to wholesale and retail trade SMEs in Malaysia, and results were analysed with regard to the implementation of the ergonomic workplace. The questionnaires are of quantitative method is sent out to study this research. In this research, 100 respondents were collected through the SurveyMonkey.com which distributed via WhatsApp medium. All the five environmental interfaces will be analysed through using the descriptive statistics looking at the overall mean values. Other form of test tools like Reliability Test (Cronbach Alpha), Pearson Correlation, Multiple Regressions, Chi-square and one-way ANOVA were used to analyse to prove the hypothesis on the setup variables for this research. Ultimately, this finding indicates the importance of the ergonomics workplace on employees’ health that need to be integrated in organisational strategic objective to drive SMEs sustainability. Human body interaction with the surrounding workplace enables achieving a well balance between the workplace design and demand of the human physical. Ergonomics represent a science to relate any office design suitability to employees. The ergonomics workplace design aim to produce teamwork, and more crucially, provide a comfortable and safe environment. Taking into account that workplace design produces an absolute impact on the employees productivity. By doing so to making best usage of optimum space, human factor integration into workplace ergonomics design and effective workplace alignment into the surrounding environment represent ergonomics important aspects. Therefore, these are some areas of recommendation which can be adopted for the ergonomics workplace on employees health.
