Abstract
|
The purpose of this research project was to determine whether job satisfaction predicted employee engagement of the air freight forwarding employees’ at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) cargo village and whether tenure plays a mediator role in linking the independent variables and dependent variable. Based on literature reviews an instrument of four dimensions of job satisfaction and three dimensions of employee engagement was developed to fulfill the objectives of this research. From the questionnaires returned, only 89 was legible for further analysis (n=89). Results of the study do not support the proposition that tenure mediates the relationship between the dimensions of job satisfaction and employee engagement. Satisfaction with work activities and satisfaction with HR and management policy appeared to be a significant predictor of the variance in employee engagement among the four dimensions selected. The insignificant predictability of satisfaction with co-workers and supervisor was in contradiction of past research and it was recommended that a longitudinal research and bigger sample is necessary in future research to confirm this findings.
