Abstract This study is to investigate the influential factors such as the interoperability, security, usability, privacy and performance (which are also the independent variables used in this study) towards adoption of biometrics in mobile payment that may affect Alpha Beta Finance in regards the implementation of biometrics in their mobile payment system. The five factor framework was developed by MasterCard in collaboration with the department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford. This research is based on two separate studied (1) the study of end user’s perception on biometrics and (2) a survey to gauge the opinion of fraud professionals as well as leaders Alpha Beta Finance. The objective of this study is to identify payment card fraud, to indicate whether embedding biometrics in the mobile payment system would reduce these fraud types and to assess end users’ attitude regarding the adoption of biometrics. A conceptual and theoretical framework was constructed based on the independent variables. A sample size of 70 respondents were selected from each group (end users as well as the fraud professionals) to participate in this survey using convenience sampling. Two leaders of Alpha Beta Finance were also interviewed to gauge their opinion on biometrics in the mobile payment system. The reliability test that was conducted demonstrated that there was a positive and strong correlation among the independent variables. The overall result showed that both groups of respondents responded positively towards the adoption of biometrics based on the five factors mentioned above. In conclusion, Alpha Beta Finance, should implement biometrics in their mobile payment system taking while taking into account and addressing the concerns of both fraud professionals and end users. Future research should expand the current framework and to test each factor in depth. In addition to that, merchants as well as payment processors should be included in future studies as they play a part in mobile payments as well.
