Abstract
|
This study examines the relationship between institutional motivating factors and motivation level among adult learners in Penang, Malaysia. The hypothesized relationship between the institutional factors and motivation level are supported by theories including adult learning theory, facilitation theory and ARCS Motivation Model theory. A total of 240 adult learners were selected to participate and a total of 149 adult learners responded. A quantitative research design was employed. Generally, the proposed three hypotheses were supported by the findings result. The study also revealed that positive significant relationships exist between the independent variables (tutor, course materials and student support services) with the dependent variable namely motivation level. Implications included the need for future research and ways that higher learning institutions, tutor and course materials provided could be improved to serve better the needs of adult learners.
