Abstract
|
Companies today are concern about talent management as effective talent management
is essential to a company’s success. Poor management of talents can lead to many
negative consequences that hurt the company in many ways. Successful attraction and
retaining of talents key to business continuity and success.
SSB is a successful MNC chemical company operating at Kluang, Johor and is currently
in the midst of business expansion and growth. SSB experienced difficulties in
attracting and retaining talents required for this business growth.
The objective of this research study is to find out the areas or factors internally at SSB
that caused the difficulties in talent management implementation at SSB particularly in
the area of attracting and retaining talents. The study also reviews recruitment methods
and the management approach at SSB. This research study is approached through
questionnaire surveys among talents at SSB and also the marketplace.
The study has identified several areas or factors of concern internally at SSB such as the
geographical location of Kluang, poaching, underperformers, career development plans,
compensation, employment branding and relocation.
There study also found positive factors internally at SSB such as challenging jobs, high
job satisfaction, good and safe working environment and good benefits.
Recruitment methods used at SSB is considered as the correct and the management
approach is still of concern as its effectiveness is not perceived by the respondents from
SSB.
Recommendations are presented to overcome the negative findings.
