Title Factors influencing the behavioural intention of smartphone adoption among adult users in Malaysia / Teoh Kok Eng
Abstract The evolution and development of Smartphone technology in recent years have been rapid. Such rapid development had changed the ways of communication in our social life and business activities; it had also contribute greatly to economies activities. Thus consequences of increased demand for Smartphone in our social life and to impact economies activities, an understanding of the factors that determine Smartphone adoption by users is necessary in order to ensure continuous and healthy growth in Smartphone ecosystem. A research framework based on TAM and UTAUT developed after reviews various literatures. Seven independent variables were incorporated into the research framework namely; perceived value, perceived ease to use, social influence, facilitating conditions, performance expectancy, effort expectancy and perceived enjoyment of which aims to examine and determine its respective influences and relationship on behavioural intention to adopt Smartphone in Malaysia Smartphone users. This studey provides valuable information to business and parties whom are concern in the Smartphone ecosystem when it comes to factors that influence people to adopt Smartphone. Online questionnaire survey was use which target onto smartphones users aged 20-49 in Malaysia. The survey has been prepared bassed on variables and measuring items retrieved from various literatures review. Total 163 random samples selected and survey wuestionnaire distributed , of which 129 valid responses received. SPSS software were used for data analysis namely factor analysis, reliable analysis and multiple regression analysis. hypotheses were tests on all variabls in the research framework. according to the result, users are agreeable to all seven variables and the 129 valid responses were supported the research model. The theoretical and mangerial implications of these results discussed. Limitations of this research work are small sample size, survey only take palce at a point of time, and have not covered teenagers and senior users. Therefore, this could be serving as stimuli for future researchers to do similiar study but with an improve sample size, using longitudinal approach to cover time change diffrences, and to cover teenagers and senior users in the study with age & races as the moderating factors.
