Title

The impact of vocabulary training on reading comprehension among year six pupils in a primary school in Alor Setar / Shirley Tham
Abstract
There are many studies that have proven that the knowledge of vocabulary can assist pupils to comprehend better. If a pupil has a larger vocabulary it will be better as the pupil can understand any reading text.. This research study shows that the knowledge of vocabulary is very vital as when it has to show that it helps the pupils to have their reading comprehension improved. This has been suggested by other researchers (Alderson,2000; Nagy & Scott, 2000, Presley, 2000). The results of this study are that the pupils would be able to be better readers in reading comprehension if they had drillings on the vocabularies in the text. Once the pupils were able to read, they would be able to enhance their reading ability. First and foremost, their reading abilities would be improved by so much. There would be no point to go for further activities if the pupils could not understand what they were reading. It could be so meaningless if the pupils could not develop an understanding towards the text.
