Abstract
|
This paper is aimed to study the factors affecting investment behavior among Malaysian adults. The study helps to understanding the relationship between the risk and return using factors affecting investment behavior of Malaysian adults. After reviewing a number of literatures, it was observed that the investment behavior can be broadly grouped into five categories: conservative, moderate, balanced, assertive and aggressive. In addition, risk and return is also believed to be the driving force of any investor behavior and hence it has been included in this study as well. Based on these concepts, the researcher has proposed a theoretical framework of investment behavior before continuing the research. A survey was conducted among the Malaysian adults and all necessary data and information were collected via a specific designed questionnaire. The study involved mainly quantitative analyses which were aimed at answering the specific research questions framed in this paper. The results indicated that investment behavior as dependent variable however goals and expectations, risk appetite and personal evaluation as independent variables. The results also showed that Malaysian adults were Assertive investors. The results also showed that the age does influence investor’s behavior. Finally, salary was found risk and return correlated with investment behavior. After consolidating the findings, the study ends with some strategic recommendations for productivity improvement. The entire research project has taken about five months to complete and it began in Jan 2013.
