Abstract
|
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of project governance system on employee engagement in project management which subsequently resulted in successful project execution that complete on time, within budget and required quality. A theoretical framework with 3 independent variables (project governance structure, project governance people and project governance information) and 1 dependent variable (employee engagement) was developed based on the 3 project governance pillar introduced by Garland (2011). Three suggested hypotheses were tested in order to know the relationship between project governance and employee engagement. A total of 120 questionnaire were distributed to the selected employee of Project Execution Department of Sarawak Energy Berhad who are direct user of project governance in project management. The study revealed that there is significant relationship between project governance structure, project governance people and project governance information and employee engagement. Besides, the findings also revealed that the targeted employee are generally engaged in their job. At the end of the study, several strategic recommendation were made which include direction for future research and managerial recommendation intended as organizational reference for continuous improvement. Ultimately, the hope of this study is so that project governance system can help organization achieve their organization and project objectives.
