Abstract
|
The purpose of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of the spam filter in a large multinational Malaysian company, operating in the plantation sector. The filtering methods that affect spam effectiveness such as simple blacklists, real-time blacklists, bayesian analysis, heuristic analysis, mail header analysis and machine learning analysis are examined. This study was carried out in the selected organization. Data is collected directly from spam filtering system, under the supervision of IT administrators. Results revealed that all spam filtering methods should be deployed and enhanced. Finally, recommendations are made to assist organization to better protect itself from spam attacks.
