Abstract
|
The primary objective of this research is to examine the relationship between various leadership styles and employee‟s turnover and retention. Total 6 leadership styles were studied: Transaction Leadership, Transformational Leadership, Charismatic Leadership, Laissez-Faire Leadership, Task-Oriented Leadership and People Oriented Leadership. Data analysis and findings showed that these leadership styles have significant impact towards employee‟s turnover and retention. Transactional Leadership, Laissez-Faire Leadership and Task Oriented Leadership give negative impact to employee‟s turnover and retention. On the other hand, Transformational Leadership, Charismatic Leadership and People Oriented Leadership give positive impact to employee‟s turnover and retention.
The second objective of research is to setup a predictive model of leaderships that affect the employee‟s turnover and retention in Penang Electric and Electronic industry. 4 leaderships were identified in the model: Charismatic Leadership and People Oriented Leadership have positive relationship with employee‟s turnover and retention while Transactional Leadership and Laissez-Faire have negative one. Predictive model in below helps the management to understand further the leaderships that preferred in the field.
