Abstract The Sarawak civil service has undergone various era of transition and adjustment and its evolutionary could be traced back from the British colonial. However, since 2010s onwards, marked the beginning of a government transformational journey where greater emphasis was placed on namely, the efficiency and effectiveness in delivering service, through e-government applications to improve the quality of the citizens through deliberate programs and engagement and to be a high-income state and advanced economy. Setting its vision to become a ‘World Class Civil Service’ the SCS introduced the10-20 Action Plan with several transformation initiatives with a view to catapult the transformation process. Competency forms the integral part in determining the realisation of the State transformational initiatives undertaken by the government. Thus, the purpose of this study aims to explore on how the influence of competency on transformation engagement have an impact towards community leaders and organizational staffs. The method used is quantitative method with quantitative descriptive approach. Data collected by literature studies and questionnaires. The sample was taken from 108 respondents that were obtained from the employees of the Samarahan Resident and District Office (R&DO), Kota Samarahan, Sarawak including the community leaders. Based on the discussion, results indicate that the level competency which specifically encompass integrity, communication and collaboration appear to have a positive and significant influence towards of transformation engagement in the Samarahan Resident and District Office, Kota Samarahan, Sarawak. The influence means that enhancement or increased in competency is followed by positive impacts on the employees on transformation engagement. Conclusively, organizational implications in enhancing transformation engagement can be profoundly improved by increasing or optimizing competency
