Notes Final project report submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the Degree of Master of Business Administration (CeMBA)
Notes Purpose – The purpose of this descriptive study is to explore the relationships between overall job satisfaction and 9 influencing factors of stress, opportunity, fair rewards, leadership, work standards, adequate authority, gender, job category, and age in Tip Top Sdn Bhd (TTSB). Besides, it is crucial to rank the essentiality of these influencing factors and look for the most significant influencing factor in this study. Design/methodology/approach – The data were collected through the distribution of a questionnaire among the 100 over employees regardless of their job designations. However, merely 56 significant respondents were selected in this study. Mean was the simplest way to find out the ranking of overall job satisfaction results along with all independent variables of influencing factors. Chi-square was adopted for finding association between job satisfaction with age, gender and job category respectively. Correlation and multiple regression techniques were introduced in this study to look for the significant relationships among each element (dependent variable) in job satisfaction group with all independent variables in the groups of stress, opportunity, fair rewards, leadership, work standards, and adequate authority. Factor analysis was needed as it helped in zooming in the several more influencing factors among the others prior to multiple regression techniques. Findings – The mean score of all questions in job satisfaction group were less than 3 on a 5 scale (moderate satisfaction). Based on these mean score, employees demonstrated less satisfaction with opportunity, fair rewards, benefits, leadership, promotion, communication, and adequate authority as satisfier factors. There was highly significant correlation (p<0.01) between the group of opportunity, fair rewards, benefits, promotion communication, and adequate authority and job satisfaction. Likewise, leadership was significant correlation (p <0.05) with job satisfaction. Work standard and stress was less and not significant correlated with job satisfaction respectively. After carrying out the factor analysis and multiple regression technique, the most significant influencing factor in job satisfaction was ‘She/he is responsive to my concerns’. In term of the Chi-square results, the association of age, gender and job category was no association, weak association and strong association respectively with job satisfaction. Research implications – The results in this study implied many employees were dissatisfied with the present management style in the company. Immediate strategies and actions were required to solve the job satisfaction problem.
