Abstract
|
The major problems for Malaysians inclination to work in Singapore are a drain on Malaysia’s productive capacity and affecting its overall competitiveness in the global market. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the factors influencing Malaysians to work in Singapore. The study will consequently provide insight for the Malaysian government and companies into the perceptions and motivations for Malaysian to work in Singapore. After reviewing a number of literatures, the researcher has developed a theoretical framework with five (5) independent variables (factor facets) and one (1) dependent variable (Malaysians Decisions to Work in Singapore) being identified. Following this, five (5) hypotheses were tested among the factors and Malaysians decision to work in Singapore paired dyad. In general, the results of the collected data supported the formulated hypotheses. The results indicated that significant relationships existed between workplace conditions and job satisfaction, career advancement, political factor, economic factor, technology advancement against Malaysians decision to work in Singapore. Last but not least, the study provides information and recommendations to Malaysian government and companies on how to retain Malaysian talents thus reducing the problem of ‘brain drain’ from the country.
