Title Change management – a study on the impact of organizational changes on job satisfaction of engineers in Keysight Technologies and Robert Bosch, Penang / Lee Chia Ling
Abstract Over the years, technology has transformed and developed aggressively. Keysight Technologies is the leader in the measuring equipment which aimed to develop new capable equipment to measure the future technology. Currently, the world is started operating with 4G and Keysight is now developing a full set of 5G test equipment. On the other hand, Robert Bosch is an automotive company. They are working on developing new driving feature such as emergency call in vehicle when accident happens and auto pilot car. Change is important in organization and business should embrace change. Without change, company will lose their competitive edge and fail to meet the market demand and leaving of loyal customers. Most of the change efforts within organizations are failed. The major threat to successful change implementation is not pay enough attention to “people” element of the change. Whereas, successful change management involving people to commit to or own a change. This research attempts to study the impact of organizational changes on job satisfaction of engineers in Keysight Technologies and Robert Bosch. The five major change dimensions are strategy, structure, people, process, policy and practice. Cross sectional design was utilized for this research to determine the relationship between the five dimensions of change with job satisfaction. Quantitative data was collected through distribution of questionnaire to target respondents. A total of 84 responses were received out of 200 questionnaires distributed to target respondents. Through statistical analysis, it found that all independent variables (strategy, structure, policy and practice, people and process have significant relationship with dependent variable (job satisfaction). This research revealed that change in company structure, process, policy and practice have positive relationship with engineer job satisfaction; whereas change in strategy and people arrangement have negative relationship with engineer job satisfaction. Amongst these five independent variables, change in company strategy has the strongest negative impact on job satisfaction; whereas change in company policy and practice has the strongest positive impact on job satisfaction.
