Abstract
|
In today complex business world, for one organization to maintain it survival and
progress is to evolve with time. Matrix reporting structure has been the topic of
discussion since its concept introduced back in the 20th century until today with a lot of
practitioners that trying to make the matrix model works and believe that it could the
solution to the complexity that the organizations are facing today.
This study will focus on VC Sdn. Bhd that implemented the matrix reporting structure in
year 2010. The objectives of this study are to identify the major factors that impact to the
efficiency of the matrix reporting structure and at the same time to suggest any area of
improvements can be done with the findings from the study.
The issue on how the structure has been designed for VC Sdn. Bhd. has been identified as
the major factor that impacting the efficiency of the implemented matrix reporting
structure. The factor can closely link to the reporting line being created from the
organization changed.
Recommendations were made with the intention to overcome the structure issues by
restructuring the chain of command.
The major implication of this study is those findings only valid for the time of the study
and it cannot be generalized to other organization since it was only conducted within VC
Sdn. Bhd.
