Abstract
|
This paper is aimed to study the Solving the quality issues within a manufacturing firm. The study helps the company to seek opportunities for quality improvement by understanding the employees’ perception and motivations towards productivity at work. After reviewing a number of literatures, it was observed that the factors which affect productivity in most manufacturing companies today can be broadly grouped into three categories: individual, organizational and environmental. In addition, motivation is also believed to be the driving force of any individual action and hence it has been included in this study as well. Based on these concepts, the researcher has proposed a theoretical framework of solving the quality issues before continuing the research. A survey was conducted among the manufacturing workers and all necessary data and information were collected via a specific designed questionnaire. The study involved mainly quantitative analyses which were aimed at answering the specific research questions framed in this paper. The results indicated that experiences, Age, education & Training are key factors that affect solving the quality issues in manufacturing. Individual and organizational factors are equally important in determining productivity. The results also showed that employees were generally motivated. The results also showed that the level of education influence understanding the quality criteria. Finally, trained in current working station positively correlated with frequently feedback about mistakes. After consolidating the findings, the study ends with some strategic recommendations for quality improvement. The entire research project has taken about five months to complete and it began in Jan2018.
