Abstract
|
With the current fast-moving trend of business scenario in Shared Service Centre (SSC) industry, many companies or organizations are moving towards automation of their work processes. Many companies or organizations uses Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to cater to their businesses. Each company or organization requires a lot of resources to manage these systems; be it during developing stage or maintaining the system. Of course, it is obvious that whenever human intervention is involved, there are chances of errors to occur. Human errors will result in operational risk events and the ‘human’ processor to correct those mistakes made earlier will be cumbersome. Therefore, a new technology has emerged which is called Robotic Process Automation (RPA) where it is able to serve their customers in an effective, efficient and fast manner. The research aims to understand the benefits and advantages of the RPA system adopted by many companies or organizations. RPA has proved to be effective and efficient for companies or organizations in their day-to-day operations with a high-quality achievement. The research focuses on the automation of RPA particularly in financial services; in addition to the existing ERP system implemented in the organization of World Health Organization (WHO) – Global Service Centre (GSC) in Cyberjaya, Selangor, Malaysia, that has benefitted the workforce as a whole with other ancillary positive factors attached to it. The research uses a sample period of 35 weeks in year 2017 covering 98,835 invoices processed via the RPA system. The results have proven that WHO GSC has benefited tremendously and gained additional advantages via RPA implementation. Lastly, the research presents recommendations and policy implications for the higher management to further improve the RPA system to maximise its full potential.
