Abstract
|
The topic of employee engagement is an issue which is currently widely discussed. With this light, the following study was undertaken to examine and determine the elements that widely influence employee commitment among security guards in Bayan Lepas, Penang. The research hypothesized the possibility of factors namely employee communication, compensation, career development, management support and perceived organizational image being the identified independent variables having the capacity to influence the dependent variable in this study which is employee commitment. The research instrument used for this study was a 45 question itemed questionnaire. A total of 150 respondents were randomly selected and the data received was analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 19. The test used in this study included reliability analysis, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, Regression Analysis a, ANOVA and Multiple Regression. As a result of the statistical analysis, it was identified that all the independent variables had significant relationship with the dependent variable. The two independent variables that had the most significant relationship to dependent variable were employee communication and career development. The analysis too revealed that employee communication was the strongest factor to influence employee commitment among private security guards in Bayan Lepas, Penang.
