Abstract
|
The purpose of this case study is to examine the relationship between the behaviour of Generation Y Malaysian towards a new concept restaurant, the automated restaurant’s mobile payment services. Factors that affect their attitudes towards the behaviour intention of visiting such concept restaurant and how these attitudes transform into intentions. The survey instrument was developed using items in similar studies of mobile payment which narrow down into automatic restaurant perspective. A total of 100 out of 126 questionnaires were collected from the potential consumer user, Generation Y Malaysia respondent.
Six dimensions of TAM were used to examine the behaviour intention of using the automatic restaurant’s mobile payment. Six hypothesis were developed from these dimensions. These dimensions were security, compatibility, usefulness, ease of use, subjective norms and attitude (mediating variable). The findings revealed that all these dimensions were significantly positively related to the behaviour intention of automatic restaurant’s mobile payment. Perceived usefulness and perceived compatibility were found to be the most significant factors of all. In overall, Generation Y Malaysian was positive towards the use of automatic restaurant’s mobile payment with much encouragement and education needed. Several recommendations were highlighted for future study, which may strengthen the understanding of behaviour intention Generation Y Malaysian towards automatic restaurant’s mobile payment for an improved cashless society in Malaysia.
