Abstract
|
The truck driver shortages have been significantly affecting the Haulage industries especially in the Klang Valley, Malaysia. In Malaysia, the logistics industry is the backbone of the global supply chains that stimulate trade, facilitate business efficiency and economic growth.The Malaysia Haulage industries are currently facing shortages of skills truck drivers and the current ratio of drivers of goods vehicle at 1.1.5 which is affecting the business productivity. To keep up with the trade growth, the needs to identify the internal and external factor that influences the shortages of truck drivers in the haulage industries. In this study, the job satisfaction level is to analysis the degree of the satisfaction level that influences the truck drivers to shortages or turnover in the industries. The study was carried out referencing to two basic ways, using the primary and secondary data. The haulage industries intensively recruit a large number of drivers or to encourage retention by proving higher salary, the superior relation, peer relation, better working conditions and attractive rewards systems. In the long run, it proposed to conclude that recruitment and retention, both strategies likely to be necessary for the industry to have an adequate labor supply. The high degree of job satisfaction found to be in workplace condition, the superior relationship, pay, fringe benefits and rewards system. Retention will be particularly important because attrition and turnover are the largest sources of job openings. The analysis identifies workplace conditions address to most effectively improve overall satisfaction among the truck driver in haulage. These conclusions give high hopes because the attributes contribute to the level of driver churning are within their control.
