Abstract
|
This is a study on Penang consumer behaviour and purchase intention after Goods and Service Tax (GST) implemented on 1st April 2015. GST considered as one of the most concerned issue by people and it might be one of the policies which have high impact on people expenses and lifestyle in Malaysia. Thus, as it might considered as important and most concerned issue by people especially for the people who are from urban area or city will receive the high impact of GST. Penang also is one of the City in Malaysia thus, most of the expenses might consist GST therefore Penang people expenses behaviour and purchase intention might be related to this study. In order to study on Penang people or Penang consumer behaviour and purchase intention Queensbay Mall which located in Bayan Bay was the choice of the venue to carry out the survey. Queensbay Mall considered as one of the biggest shopping mall in Penang island and it consist middle, high and luxurious grade of shops that servicing to the people and there have different levels of people would visit to the mall therefore it become the choice of venue, as a random sampling that be carried out, 150 survey form had prepared and 100 of questionnaires were successfully received as expected. Based on the survey had shown that there do not had significant gender differences were found with both male and female consumer showing higher impact on expenses behaviour, but the research had found the differences income group indeed showing the effect and also the impact of GST. The changes of expenses indeed can be found among Penang people expenses after implication of GST since 1st April 2015. Respondent who have to change their behaviour in expenses and also found the cost living was turn high after GST had enforced.
