Abstract The study aims to investigate the determinants of employee engagement and exploring the extent of its impact in the performance of an organization. The study helps organizations and its employees in seeking opportunities for improvement in working environment, relationship and ownership at the workplace. Based on previous literatures, it can be generalized that family support, co-worker support and organization culture are the determinants of an organization performance excellence. Due to competitive environment and high staff turnovers, Employee Engagement is now a pre-requisite for organization to enhance their workforce competitiveness in the market place. Sustained employee engagements are the critical factors that help employees to complete their work enthusiastically with excellence performance and results. Engaged employees are emotionally attached to their organization and highly involved in their job with a great enthusiasm for the success of their employer, going extra mile beyond the employment contractual agreement. Based on these ideas, theoretical framework has been proposed. A survey was conducted among the employees at CBA (M) Berhad, Kuala Lumpur via structured questionnaire. The results indicated that leadership support, co-worker support and company culture were the determinants of performance excellence. Intrinsic goals and teamwork are how they sustained their motivations. The study also demonstrated that CBA workers are/not extrinsically motivated. Self-efficacy was found to strengthen the relationship between family supports, peer support and work habit with performance excellent.
