Title The relationship and effects of organizational culture on job satisfaction / Cheah Chee Kean.
Abstract In order for organizations to have competitive advantage over their competitors and be pioneers in the market, the organizations will have to make sure that their current organizational culture will spark maximum level of job satisfaction among their employees. Hence, the objective of this research is to survey, analyze, study and gain a better understanding on the relationship and effects of organizational culture on employees’ job satisfaction. The types of organizational culture that are being focused are supportiveness, emphasis on remuneration, innovativeness, result oriented as well as team work and information sharing. As many as 500 copies of questionnaire were distributed to randomly selected employees of different secondary and tertiary industries but only 300 copies were returned. The data gathered from these respondents’ questionnaire were fed into SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) and the statistical information obtained were then being analyzed using Cronbach’s Alpha test, descriptive analysis, Pearson Correlation and multiple regression analysis to examine the hypotheses of this research and to relate the relationship and effects of the organizational culture on job satisfaction. The result confirmed that supportiveness organizational culture has the strongest influence whilst result oriented organizational culture has the weakest influence on job satisfaction of the employees. However, this research faced financial and time constraints too. Future researches should be conducted on a bigger number of employees from a larger group of industries and should involve other aspects or types of organizational culture and other factors influencing employees’ job satisfaction as well as human resources management so that this topic can be studied to its utmost depth.
