Abstract
|
Malaysia government has been trying very hard to increase the broadband
penetration rate for the country to reach 50% by the year 2010. Private sectors are
encouraged to participate in the program by providing incentives.
J-FON is in the process of deploying fiber optic infrastructure and going to provide
broadband internet services in the State of Johor. Therefore, we needed to know how
will people here acceptance to the new technology. Their expectation and quality of
services with the right price tag is also another question that needs to be answered.
The research is aim to position the broadband services at Johor market and prepare
for marketing strategy needed to capture substantial market in 3 years time. It will be
used for strategy decision for the company to decide deployment method and
planning for future expansion.
The limitation of the research are lacking of study of other factors that contribute to
the competitive advantages in the marketing mix, like place (distribution channels),
promotion (advertisement). And the research is carry out specific at localize market,
it may not be able to be generalized.
Future research could be carry out to determined deeper into other factors that could
contributed to the formulation of marketing strategy, like quality of services, content
of the local website and usage of internet, which may affect the choice of consumers.
