Abstract
|
The research examines the factors impacting risk dimension in development of an e-Service System Integration in the Digital Free Trade Zone, Bandar Malaysia. There are several risk dimensions in developing a software throughout the software development life cycle. These risks will have an impact on the project implementation and may cause the project failure if it is not handled in a timely manner. The study explores five factors that may be impacting risk dimension, namely stakeholders’ involvement, quality of the project, human resource allocation, cost of the project and schedule of the project. These factors would be then be mapped to the risk dimension model to identify all possible risk. A combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches are used in this study, with questionnaires and interview used as a data collection tools. The research is limited to a case study on a specific software house as the research population and employees from various departments in the case firm to be identified as research sampling. The result analysis reveals that the five factors have significant relationship with risk dimension. Based on the mapping of these factors to the risk dimension model, the risk in the project implementation by the case firm has been identified, thus allowing the project team members to eliminate or reduce the negative impact of the risk dimension. The model used to identify risk dimension will serve as a template for future project implementation. Several recommendations has been highlighted for future study, which may be beneficial for project managers to manage the software project implementation in specific, and project implementation in general.
