Abstract
|
The research objective is to study the critical factors affecting raw material supply chain management in Penang manufacturing industries. Identified factors including supply factor, demand factor, manufacturing factor, information factor and transportation factor. Various studies had been conducted for supply chain management, and obviously proved that raw material management is one of the important elements in overall supply chain management. Raw material supply chain management has drawn considerable attention because it is very important for any successful organization as a lot of money, space and other resources get block into it. Past histories had shown that company raw material management has been the key of supply chain for the companies making them different from others giving them the competitive edge. The literature review highlights the needs to study critical factors for raw material supply chain management. This research data was done through online questionnaire and a total of 105 respondents were recorded. Descriptive, correlation and regression analysis shows that 4 factors have positive relationship and significant correlation with raw material supply chain management. Recommendations were proposed to further enhance critical factors that highly impact the supply chain management in Penang manufacturing industries.
