Abstract
|
In view of the increase demand and dynamic changes in Malaysian Semiconductor manufacturing industry today, the employee turnover rate is also on the rise. Human Resource has a challenging role to play in maintaining sufficient employee with relevant skill so as to keep an organization running in a competitive edge. This research is to study how effective are the existing employee development program and employee retention strategies in improving organizational performance and lowering the employee turnover rate. This research study was carried out with employees working in the Semiconductor manufacturing companies located within Ipoh city. 180 copies of survey questionnaires were randomly distributed out to three semiconductor manufacturing firms. The relationship of these employee retention and motivational variables is discussed. The results indicated that employees were having positive attitudes towards the motivational program and employee retention practices. However, the limitation of this study was only conducted in three companies and all were located in the same place in Ipoh city.
