Abstract
|
This research is concerned about using drama in literature which enhanced students understanding. The purpose of this research was to compare the use of literature in showing the beauty of language. This study was conducted on students from Primary school in Standard Five. The students were in mix ability. The research was employed through instruments such as Profile Form, Questionnaires, Pre-Test Treatments and Post Test. It was proved that using drama in literature learning in the classroom had successfully helped students in maximizing their language skills. It was envisaged that using appropriate and interesting story provide meaningful and enjoyable language practise at all levels and all age group. Drama in literature could be used to practice any of language skills at any stage of the learning process and could be an effective mean of instruction to teach literature as well as to cultivate positive attitude and motivation towards learning. This study embarked students to show their talent and motivated passive students at once. Students showed a vast difference in presenting literary text with and without role play. Thus, students participated actively during role play session. Students had hands-on activities where they were cherished. Role play was an effective technique which can be used to change the mode of English classroom. I would suggest role play as an essential part to deliver literary text for both active and passive students in understanding literary text.
