Abstract
|
The main objective of this study is to explore the best competitive strategies adopted by developers in time of market changes which bring challenges to their competitiveness and sustainability. Based on the review of the relevant literature on competitive strategies conducted in relation to Porter’s generic strategies, resourced-based view (RBV) and blue ocean strategy, a framework of research is being developed in this research. The research design is entirely of qualitative approach with multiple case studies of five public listed property developer companies to identify patterns of competitive strategies which might be adopted during a period where market changes were at force. It was found that RBV strategies have been widely practiced to accomplish competitive advantages compared to Porter’s generic strategies. The RBV approach is to use organizations’ internal resources and capabilities to attain a competitive advantage level.
