Abstract
|
The purpose of this study is to examine how housing developers can adopt e-commerce to revamp their business model and achieve maximum cost-efficiency. This would contribute to the lower property price, thus encouraging home buyers to use online purchases. However, there are limitations that can shy away buyers from purchasing big ticket items such as new homes via online shopping. This led the study to construct a theoretical framework based on the influential factors that could trigger home buyers' intention to purchase online. A randomly selected sample group took part in the survey through email invitation to complete a set of self-administered questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed using the reliability analysis, correlation analysis and simple regression analysis designed specifically for hypotheses testing. The result showed that there was a strong, positive correlation for home buyers to use online purchase. It also revealed that trust is not the main determinant that deters purchase intention. Instead, other influential factors displayed high level of significance towards improving the buyers' intention. As a result, this study highlights developers should emphasize on social network, highly functional website, valuable services, and price discount as their e-commerce marketing tools to lure home buyers. Furthermore, due to the fast moving technological trend, future researchers should expand the current framework and investigate the evolving factors that will continue to impact purchase decision.
