Abstract

The purpose for this paper is to improve the quality for a foundry covered in this study. Research began with the introduction of the company background and how do the quality improvement affecting the competitive advantage of the company. Next a literature review was done covering the project approach of this research, definition, philosophy and the concept of quality covering six sigma, and quality management tool. It was found that the success of a quality management system is influenced by human resource factor and the degree of employee quality awareness. A questionnaire research was conducted on employee demographical factor and found that nationality, age, religion, and pass working experience had significant contribution to quality awareness. However, education level was found to be less significant in quality awareness. It was also found that the employee respond positively that environment, leadership, procedure and human behaviour factor is influenced the quality performances. Out of these, ventilation system, lighting, and enhance supervision is been prioritized. Therefore, the report concluded with the need of organisation to engage young Malaysian in order to improve the quality. It was followed with recommendation plan to improve the ventilation, lighting, and supervision. Additional recommendation was also provided to attract and retain young Malaysian.
