Abstract
|
This paper is aimed to examine the adult learner preferences on Open Distance Learning within educational industry in Northern State of Malaysia, Wawasan Open University. After reviewing a number of literatures on Open Distance Learning practices, it was observed that, there was not much research in this scope of study. Thus, the proposed model was developed with the intention of to strengthening and reaffirming this relationship within a local context.
The paper proposes four hypotheses and tests on the relationship between the factors and adult learner preferences on Open Distance Learning practices. The study used self-completed questionnaires, distributed within Wawasan Open University. The study sample consisted of 100 participants, resulting in a response rate of 48%. Data were analysed by using correlation and multiple regression analysis methods.
The findings discovered that learner Internet self efficacy, learning course flexibility, perceived ease of use and instructor timeliness response are positive associated with learner preferences on Open Distance Learning University. Further, the outcome of the multiple regression analysis reinforces the proposed model based on the empirically validated Open Distance Learning factors, which are reliable and valid.
The finding could be useful as an example that might be used as references in relation to degree of Open Distance Learning factors that contributed to learner preferences on Open
Distance Learning methods.
