Abstract
|
This thesis is concerned with the finding out the performance of right issue in
the surrounding announcement period; to detect any significant of abnormal return
during the pre announcement and post announcement period is being practiced in
Malaysia stock market. We investigate and study the performance of right issues on preissue
and post-issue of right issue announcement related to any significant of abnormal
return by using twenty one right issues’ firms for sample period a year from September
2011 until August 2011. The method of study is using event study by taking -120 days
until -31 days as estimation window and -31 days until +30days as event window. The
statistic technique to be used is T-statistic by using SPSS one sample t-test and binomial
statistical test.
The findings show that there is not significant of right issue surrounding
announcement period with any abnormal return, the result also proof that any
information created through technical report or market information on right issue won’t
affect much on the share price, this show that right issue performance on pre
announcement and post announcement maintain constant and not significant of
abnormal return. Thus the findings for right issue surrounding announcement provide
the support for the efficient market hypothesis in the Malaysia capital market.
