Abstract
|
The intention of this research is to serve the following purposes:
o to evaluate the effectiveness of Ipoh Security Documentation Centre (ISDC) of
THP Bank Berhad in servicing all the Branches in the vicinity of Ipoh
o the management also wishes to measure the level of quality of the services
rendered by the SDC with regards to the respective tasks involved
o to evaluate the benefit and quality of each task performed so that action can be
taken to improve on the respective tasks. The findings of this research will be the foundation for management’s decision making
as to the following:
I To continue the setting up of SDC in other regions
II To retain ISDC but discontinue the setting up of SDC in other regions.
III To modify (add/reduce the tasks) the function of ISDC
IV To discontinue ISDC
xii
Findings from survey and questionnaire reveal that Branches are totally satisfied with
the service rendered, with little improvement as to the level of assistance granted by
SDC and communication between them. Other than the hypothesis testing has proved
that Branches serviced by SDC are able to perform at least two times better in meeting
the required turnaround period and faster than those which are not. However, due to
restriction in access of information and time, Researcher is unable to compare the
quantity/volume handled by Branches of the two categories.
The above findings has authenticated that ISDC has effectively served its branches in
terms of quality of service and speed. Therefore is viable to set up SDC in other
regions for the benefits of being able to concentrate efforts in sourcing of business,
improved due diligence, timelier completion of the documentation process, better
conformance to Standard turnaround time and systematic filing and retrieval of
security documents. Besides, the research has identified areas in the system which is
in need of improvements necessary for the streamlining of its processes.
