Abstract
|
The aim of the study is to find out the effectiveness of smartboard in the secondary English class. The uses of smartboards are gaining popularity among schools to install this teaching tool in order to be at par with the modern world of teaching. This is a quantitative study being carried out in scanning model where descriptive method was used. A group of teachers were interviewed and two classes of students were observed and surveyed their opinions on the effectiveness of using smartboard in teaching and learning process as well as use smartboard as a teaching tool in teaching English Language. Data of the study were collected by means of an interview form formed of semi-structured questions in line with the open-ended question technique. The survey was conducted with students who have stated their opinions on the effectiveness of smartboard in use during teaching and learning English language. The data collected were evaluated and the findings indicated the reasons why teachers preferred to use smartboard to teach but inadequate form of training actually prevent them from fully utilizing the smartboard. Students preferred learning using the smartboard as it is fun and gaining knowledge in an advance method using information technology.
