Abstract
|
Staff nurses play an important role in the hospital, they are the front liner who attends the patients directly, provide quality care to the patients. Staff nurses are the basic members in the team of the nursing unit, a nursing leader is assigned to look after the nursing unit and the team. Nursing leader’s contribution will affect the quality of care to the patients. In this research, qualitative research on 20 nursing leaders and quantitative research done on 158 staff nurses. Results showed that nursing leaders leading the team is much related to the quality of leaders, communication channel and skill, rewards system and continuing nursing training. Recommendation for improvement includes selection of nursing leaders, improve communication channel, monitor the performance of the staff and reward the staff, finally continuing nursing education and training which could further enhance the quality nursing care for the patients.
