Title Factors affecting investing behavior in CIMB mutual fund in Victorious Agency Johor Bahru, Malaysia. / Saravanan Sivan Shummugam.
Abstract Mutual Funds investment had been considered as one of the common investment type by many Malaysian and it is undeniable that this mutual fund industry had undergone a phenomenal growth in Malaysia for the recent years. Mutual Funds had been one of the strong pillars in the economic growth of Malaysia as investment made both in domestic as well as international funds which cultivate saving behavior among the people of Malaysia as well as boosting economic growth. The main objective of this study is to identify the factors that contribute to the investing behavior in CIMB Mutual Funds in Victorious Agency that is located in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This study been conducted by using modified decomposed Theory of Planned Behavior and using structured questionnaires to collect the feedback from the investors that has been investing thru Victorious Agency which is the subset of the CIMB bank. The questionnaires were designed using Google Form and distributed by using social chat platform which is Whatsapp. About 100 feedback were received from the investors prior to another 30 questionnaires that been distributed earlier as part of pilot testing to check the integrity of the questionnaires. Based on the feedback and further analysis, it was found that the model able to explain 36.7% of the variance in Behavioral Intention. The results shows that the Attitude, Subjective Norms, Perceived Behavioral Control has positive significant influence on the investors actual Intention to invest in the CIMB Mutual Funds. Even though, this model able to explain considerably moderate percentage of variance in Behavioral Intention, it was found that the highest influence contributed by Subjective Norms followed by Perceived Behavioral Control and finally Attitude. It is suggested to use other theoretical model that has wider variables coverage for this study in future in order to further understand the factors that influence the investor’s intention to invest in the Mutual Funds.
