Abstract
|
This research examined the relationship between the food safety factors ( Food Safety System, Food Safety Law in Malaysia, Food Safety Standard, Food Labelling, Food Hygiene) influencing consumer purchasing decision. The independent variable is the consumer behavior on purchasing decision while the dependent variable is food safety factors. The hypothesized relationship between food safety factor and consumer purchasing decision. The theories that support the theoretical framework are the food safety factors influence decision making of consumer purchasing that support consumers’ need recognition in food safety, pre-purchase evaluation, attitude towards food safety and food purchasing. A total 200 questionnaires were distributed to consumer. The questionnaires were distributed in September 2015.Total 116 usable questionnaire were returned yielding a response rate of 58%. The collected data were analyzed statistically using multivariate statistic. Factor analysis, reliability analysis, descriptive analysis, correlational analysis and multiple regression analysis were used as the bases of analyses. Result indicated that positive significant of food safety factor influencing consumer purchasing decision. However, result showed negative significant that are no influencing consumers’ purchasing behavior when choose safe food on demographics. Limitation of the study and suggestions for future research were also laid out in this study. In conclusion, this research revealed the growing important of the food safety factors in influencing consumer purchasing decision.
