Abstract
|
The purpose of this study is to investigating the relationship between four servant leadership dimensions and employees’ commitment towards the organization. The framework of this study composed of four servant leadership dimensions namely Empowerment, Communication, Personal Integrity and Humility have been measured in this study. While the moderating effect of job characteristic in relationship between servant leadership dimensions and employees’ commitment. Data analysis and findings reported that all correlations were significant and positive. Job characteristic is a moderator variable that influences the strength of a relationship between personal integrity and employees’ commitment. Data has been collected from 60 employees from manufacturing industry in Penang. The data gathered was analyzed with various analyses methods such as Pearson correlations and multiple regressions using SPSS package.The findings suggest a predictive model of servant leadership characteristic that impact the employees’ commitment in Penang manufacturing industry. Two servant leadership styles and job characteristic were identified in the model: Integrity and Empowerment have positive relationship with employees’ commitment while Job Characteristic also has positive relationship with employees’ commitment. Limitation, recommendations and discussions for future research are provided.In terms of practice, a comprehensive plan is formulated to develop more effective community leadership in Malaysia.
