Abstract
|
This study investigated factors contributing to the project delay of housing projects in kempas, Johor Bahru. The objectives of this questionnaire survey were to to help the contractor, consultants and owners to identify and understand the factors contributing to project delays. Besides, it also allows them to understand the impact of the delays in order to reduce the possibilities in delays in project delivery. Questionnaires were distributed the participants during Project Progress Meeting and through snow balling method, that is requesting participants to distribute the Questionnaires to other staff who also involve in the Kempas area project. The sample was restricted to owners, consultants and contractors involves in housing development in Kempas area. A total of 60 questionnaires were distributed by by hand or email (in pdf format).The results were analysed by determines mean, mode, median and standard. Spearman rank correlation coefficient was also used in the ranking of the responses given by the owners, consultants & contractors.
From the reliable analysis, the overall Cronbach’s alpha was 0.882 and the questionswere suitable for the use to collect data in the study. Relative Importance Index (RII) and rank of the delay factors are deduced according to each sector, and the research has successfully identified the common recognised factors among the three sectors.The recommendations from this study were divided into three groups, (1) recommendations for owners, (2) recommendations for consultants, and (3) recommendation for contractors.
