Title The factors affecting loyalty of generation Y employees in ABC Electric Sdn Bhd / Ng Sin Yen
Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the factor affecting the loyalty of Generation Y employees in ABC Electric Sdn Bhd. Questionnaire survey method was applied, and the objectives were to identify the factor affecting the loyalty of Generation Y employees, to provide the effective information for employer to retain the Gen Y employees and to determine the various factor affecting the turnover of employees. The target respondents were the employees aged within 21 to 30 years old of the ABC Electric Sdn Bhd. 74 employees were selected and questionnaire were distributed. Results were analysed by mean, mode, median and standard deviations, as well as the reliability and hypothesis testing. From the analysis, it shows that career path and salary having the highest influence towards the loyalty of Gen Y employees, with the career path at top and the salary at the second place. It was then followed by benefits and compensation, co-workers and lastly the working environment. Independent sample T-test result revealed that there was no significant difference within gender and the variables tested. For the motivation survey, the salary was found to be the most extrinsic factor affecting the Gen Y employees, with the highest of 40% obtained, and it was followed with the career path that having the similar result, which is 39%. The overall Cronbach’s alpha was 0.636. It was acceptable even though it was lower the range of 0.7. Based on the findings, the ABC Electric Sdn Bhd company was recommended to adjust the policies for example the hierarchy of position in order to create more promotion chance for the Gen Y employees. In addition to, the company should adjust the salary package as well as the increment package in order to attract and keep that Gen Y Employees within the company
