Title The study of leadership styles effect on work team / Shirin Binti Ismail
Abstract The Purpose of this study is to investigate the leadership style, its effectiveness and the perception of team effectiveness as a result of the leadership style, at a Malaysian company providing services in the oil and gas industry. The study reveals that transformational leadership style is prevalent at the firm and this is a good place to start for Senior Management to develop leadership as a strategy in meeting the challenges in the oil and gas industry today. Transformational leadership is a preferred style as it employs the motivation of staff to sacrifice personal needs over organizational goals. The outcome of the study also points out to the need for training both leaders and staffs at the firm in leadership effectiveness so that full benefit can be derived from transformational leadership behaviour being practiced.
