Abstract
|
Purpose: The main objectives of the research study are to provide a clear picture of the
current situation of employees' motivation level and to identify the key factors for a
high degree of employees’ motivation of ABC Sdn. Bhd. and to suggest solutions to
overcome the issues of employees’ motivation in the Company.
Design/methodology/approach: A set of questionnaire was distributed the employees
of the Company who do not have management experiences. Only employees below
assistant manager level and taking part in site related everyday work tasks have been
selected. Of the 128 sets of questionnaire distributed, a total of 91 responses were
received. The study findings were identified by using several statistical techniques
operated from the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software, version 15.
Finding- The result show that the five significant factors are immediate superior
support, perceived organizational support, reward and recognition, remuneration
package and condition of work. Both extrinsic and intrinsic factors are important to
motivate the employees of the Company.
Limitation- The study data was collected through self-reported information at the
particular time. This study only involved the employees of the Company who do not
have management experiences. The sample was restricted to a company, as it was one
case study. The views of the participants in the Company are not directly represented.
Practical implication- Company and their management play an important role in
ensuring that their employees are motivated in performing their job.
Originality/value–The management of the Company can use the identified factors to
improve the motivation of their employees and increase company performance.
