Organisational justice and employees stress : a case study at KDU, Penang Malaysia / Lim Paik Ing

Abstract
|
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship of organisational
justice (distributive, procedural, and interactional) and employee stress. Three
broadly hypothesized relationships were tested in a field study among nonacademician
and academician in KDU, Penang. Based on the data from the survey
questionnaires, the results revealed that predictor variables (interactional justice and
distributive justice) have a positive relationship with employee stress and no
significance relationship for procedural justice and stress in the environment of KDU,
Penang. The distributive justice has greater significant impact than interactional
justice as there is strong positive correlation between employee stress (dependent
variable) and distributive justice (independent variable) which shows perception of
distributive justice plays major role in employee perceived stress. The findings
provide some interesting insights into employee stress within the Malaysia context,
particularly in educational institution. Therefore, the implication of the study’s
findings is that the working condition in any of the educational institution is essential,
by providing fair and unbiased rewards, promotion and recognition to the employees
could significantly reduce employee stress. Moreover, the higher levels of
interactional justice maintain among the subordinate and supervisors resulting in a
better perceived relationship, which in turn reduces the perceived stress.
