Title A cross - sectional study : adoption of mobile shopping acceptance among the urban community in Klang Valley / Tan Kok Fatt
Abstract This study is to investigate the influential factors and behavioral intention towards adoption of mobile shopping acceptance among the urban community in Klang Valley. The objectives of this study are to identify the influential factors such as user perceived values and personality characteristics that will affect user’s attitude towards using Mobile Shopping. A theoretical framework was constructed based on the independent variables and dependent variable. Sample sizes of 330 respondents were randomly selected to participate in this study. The results were analyzed according to the determinants of dimension. For the dependent variable, the dimension used for behavior measurement is intention to use the mobile shopping technology. However for the independent variables, the groups of dimensions used for measuring intention to use were: perceived values of Technology of Acceptance Model (TAM) – perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and perceived enjoyment; personality characteristics of Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) – relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, observability and trialability. Reliability and hypotheses testing were conducted. The result showed that there was a strong, positive correlation between perceived values of TAM and intention to use Mobile Shopping. In addition, the result also demonstrated that the personality characteristics of DOI are positively correlated with intention to use Mobile Shopping. Overall, increases of perceived values of TAM and personality characteristics of DOI were correlated with increases in affecting user’s attitude towards using the Mobile Shopping. The model were developed in this report is only based on self-reported use data and at that particular time only. Future researcher should expand the current framework and test external variable such as time of the study.
