Title Factors affecting the worker's productivity in Aamoor Sdn.Bhd. / So Ling Chueng
Abstract This research aims to study the factors that affect the productivity in a food and beverage company. This study hopes to assist the company in understanding the employees’ perception and their motivation with regard to their own productivity at work. This in turn will enable the company to improve on its productivity level. Based on the literature review, it was found out that there are three main category of factors which will affect the productivity level of a company in the service line and they are: organisation, environment and individual differences. Apart from that, another vital literature on motivation is also included because it is an important driving force behind a person’s work. The researcher has proposed a theoretical framework of service productivity and then proceeds to the research. A questionnaire survey was conducted on the two main branches of Aamoor company: Sutera Utama restaurant and KSL City restaurant, which involved all the staff who contributed directly to the productivity of the respective branches. This study utilised quantitative analyses (with the use of SPSS software) aimed at answering the specific research questions which were set at the beginning of the paper. The results of the study showed that workers at Sutera Utama are self-motivated so their motivational level is high. They also emphasise on organisation and environment as the essential factors of productivity at work. KSL City workers are less motivated compared to Sutera Utama and they need incentives to get them to work. Similarly, they also emphasise on organisation and environment as the essential factors of productivity at work. Based on the findings, strategic recommendations are provided to improve productivity level of the workers. This research has been completed over the span of five months beginning from July 2014.
