Abstract
|
This paper intends to study what are the factors affecting the registration rate of ASEAN
Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE) in Malaysia. Total 4 hypotheses were suggested to
determine the factors affecting the registration rate of ACPE. The relationship of the
hypotheses were examined and discussed in details. The study revealed that Board of
Engineers Malaysia (BEM) has a very prominent and importance roles in promoting and
upheld the registration of ACPE in Malaysia. Factors such as BEM roles & policies were
found to have direct positive relationship with registration of ACPE. In addition to this, the
recognised and apparent benefits of ACPE are another contributing factor affecting the
registration of ACPE. The branding and image of professional engineers also contribute to the
registration of ACPE. The last hypothesis of service fee also related to the registration of
ACPE. The study also covers several recommendations to significantly increase the
registration rate of ACPE in Malaysia.
