Abstract
|
This study sought to delineate the factors which would encourage non-academic administrative supervisors to assume the role of educators to their subordinates. Through the use of questionnaire, the study seeks to address the issue of: To what extent do rewards, values and role expectation encourage non-academic administrative supervisors to engage in educative behaviour of their subordinates. The result indicates that the independent variables reward, value and role expectation did not significantly influence the non-academic administrative supervisors in engaging educative behaviour of their subordinates. However the reliability of the variables is seem to be good for the use of the study. The implication is that there is a need to incorporate the education of subordinates in the explicit job description and to enhance human resource development and planning. Further research should take place with bigger sample size and the scope should cover higher level administrative supervisors so that more reliable and valid data can be collected for better engagement of educative behaviour towards subordinates.
