Abstract
|
The purpose of this research is to evaluate the feasibility of setting up a laboratory that provides testing services for construction materials in Kuala Lumpur, whereby competitions by established laboratories are extreme and how this new laboratory deploy its step by step strategy to ensure the laboratory is set up properly with all the required resources in order to become a fully functional laboratory. The basic elements that has to be considered and emphasized in order to be feasible such as strategic location, capacity planning, cost – benefit analysis, time frame, suitable manpower and type of quality to adhere are critical factors that will determine the success or failure of such business. The research also elaborates on the competitive advantage and identifying its weaknesses in order to craft strategies to battle in the current and future construction industries for years to come. Just like any other businesses, building a solid foundation requires meticulous planning in order to position itself on par with established competitors and not just merely for survival but to excel in the market.
